LEVEL 2 CLINIC on May 14-15, 2011 at Ouray Stables
This clinic was a blast! Not only did we have a rocking group, but we had a blast on both days.
Day 1 focused on skills online, including advancing our skills onto longer lines, asking for more accuracy and distance, and taking each Parelli game to the next level. We played outside in the morning, with a huge line of trailers to load into and a playground of obstacles, and moved inside in the afternoon to focus on purpose games and saddle preparation. |

We have just completed the final clinic of the Spring Preparation Clinics.
April 16 was a Level 1/2 Ground Skills Review clinic workshop - full of refreshers about the Parelli 7 Games, learning to use the 22' line, and playing with other people/obstacles for fun. April 17 was a Level 3/4 Ground Skills Review clinic workshop - we focused on savvy rope handling with the 45' line, playing all 7 Games to a level 3 or 4 level, and worked on liberty in the afternoon.
April 30 was the first day of the Trail Riding Summer Preparation Clinic. |

We finished up our Ouray Stables Clinic Series with a one-day clinic focused on Prior and Proper Preparation .... ... setting ourselves and our horses up for success whenever the unexpected happens (even Jamie's!!!) and also preparation for whenever we may need a vet, a farrier, a dentist, etc. The morning was focused on Friendly Games and 911 Exercises. Next we focused on preparting for Vet or Farrier care. |

We have just completed two days of developing levels 2 - 4 ground skills. Each day, we played with advancing our online skills onto longer lines and more distance - and even with two lines!!! Also, at liberty, the group experimented with transitions, changes of direction, spins, and challenges such as circling game in a large area, sideways towards, procupine lead by the leg and the lip and the ear, etc. Here's a taste of Day 1 - a focus on advancing liberty skills or starting with positive patterns at liberty AND advancing your rope handling skills and playing on a 45' line, driving lines and with more distance. |

Today ended with a bang - but first, the morning:
We had the opportunity to play with water crossings and then played Follow the Leader, Weave pattern through the group, and Leap Frog.
Later, our group headed to the hills to ride in the beautiful fall color to put what we'd learned the last two days to the test - with stunning results...
Thanks everyone for making this a wonderful clinic!!! ~Mattie

From warming up strong to riding patterns --- we played with our horses to develop CONTROL - CONFIDENCE - COMPETENCE so that we can ride and have fun on trails!
Here are some clips from the morning's session on warming up strong to ride soft.
And later, with the power of patterns...

Today was our SADDLE/TACK FITTING CLINIC at Ouray Stables in Salida, CO.
Our group learned about horse skeletons and muscles and how the horse moves as well as compared each horse's body to how it was moving and how we would later be shimming these horses to make them comfortable. In the afternoon, we took the time to shim each horse with a partner and then practiced riding on our balance points.
We also went through bridling and how to bridle like Pat Parelli!
Tomorrow is a trail riding clinic - so today was a great way to set the horses and riders up for comfort on the trail.

Our last day ended with lots of fun and energy --- even from our LBI friends!!!
Here's a peek at our LBE demo with my QH gelding, Sterling, who made us all laugh as he galloped around the arena. Later, I challenged the class to learn something new! Norma jumped rope with Shy, and Jen taught Tom...
Later, we had maxi and mini me --- REBEL meets CORI in the LBI demo. I played with my sister's Thoroughbred at the end of the demo to show what motivation was like.
And here's some of our friends playing with LBI stategies. |

We just completed Day 2 of the Horsenalities In Depth Clinic
Here's a brief snapshot of the day's theme: RIGHT BRAINED HORSES
We were learning about why these horses do what they do and why they choose to offer certain things and not others. It was a great day of experimenting, playing, and laughing. We even had the chance to learn a little Savvy String dancing!!!
First we had the opportunity to study Right-Brain Extroverts, with Honey, Chris Cowherd's saddlebred-arab mare.
In the afternoon, we saw two Right-Brain Introverts, Lee Rook's QH partner, Lukie, and my Thoroughbred mare, Kami. |

My first Parelli clinic of the season: HORSENALITIES IN DEPTH
kicked off today. It was a great start, with a good combination of horses and people to play with. Today was focused on Observations and basic understanding of the horsenality chart. With a full day of watching horses and starting to see subtle signs of when a horsenality shows up, we had lots to talk, laugh and experiment with!!!!
Stay tuned for Day 2 and 3...
